You're a true maverick.

Did you see how I bypassed that check-in policy to get my code into tonight's build? I'm such a cowboy coder.
I got burned. Not badly, but burned nonetheless. I pushed out a "quick fix" like a true cowboy would and it broke something else. It wasn't a million dollar mistake by any means but it failed at exactly the moment it needed to work.  Not good. Needless to say, release management and governance has been on my mind lately.

It might be a case of "the grass is always greener", particularly knowing those of you out there who are required to be in a meeting with no less than ten people to coordinate a release that is no less than four weeks away and who would give almost anything just to be able to patch your own server(s), but I can't help but believe there is a happy medium of "governance without hinderance" out there that would make all of our lives easier.  Any ideas?
