I thought about titling this one, "Not exactly the definition of ambient, is it?" But it reminded me so much of the screensaver sets for the old CRTs with the flying toasters, stars, floating clocks, and such. After Dark: which has it's own Wikipedia page and you can watch the flying toasters here. And there are good history links at the bottom of the page, including how After Dark made the hop from the Mac to Windows.
